Although she presents herself as unknowing and frivolous, she is actually quite intelligent and knowledgeable in political affairs. It is not uncommon for her to assist Aro in his plans, offering her own input, but ultimately keeping to the background and allowing him to take the full credit.

Sulpicia never hunts for herself. Meals are always bled out for her and served in a fine goblet to be sipped from. A lady never makes a mess, of course.
